STILL CAN'T DELETE BACKUP ON EXTERNAL DRIVE IN ONECARE BACKUP RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have followed Stephen Boots' instructions to the "T" and I am still denied permission to delete a backup for one of the three PCs in my OneCare Circle.  I am using Vista.  I even turned UAC off temporarily.  I had no problem using the Command Line and I thought that it worked but I still couldn't delete a backup

Stephen's procedure seems straightforward, but I'm confused when I get into the Properties/Security.  My name doesn't appear in one folder's Properties but appears in others.  The whole thing is too confusing and frustrating.  I need more detailed instructions.

  • I'm sorry that the procedure from Help, with the additional comments provided by others and assembled into the FAQ hasn't made it any easier. If you are still unable to delete the backups, please contact support.

  • When you sent me here; http://help.live.com/help.aspx?mkt=en-us&project=onecarev2 , that's where I found the instructions for permissions and ownership.  Problem solved.

    Thanks, Stephen!

  • I guess I need to revisit the FAQ and review the latest Help file as it may have been updated and our FAQ may not be as comprehensive as it could be. Glad you were able to solve it.
