Possible To Enable File Duplication For Specific Folders? (Not Only In D:\Shares) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have a WHS v1, which I use for storing different files (mostly backups), and a FTP server.

I understand that only shared folders can have File Duplication.

Shared folders are all in D:\shares , but I also want to have duplication of other folders, e.g. D:\Personal_Backups , D:\FTP , etc.

Is it possible to do?  Can I "share" those specific folders and then enable File Duplication?  And if so, how?  (I couldn't find that.)

    Thank you!

  • No, it's not possible to do that. Only folders managed by Windows Home Server can have duplication enabled.

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • Hi Ken,

    Thank you for your reply.

So then, I suppose that I need to create a new shared folder using the WHS Console, e.g. a folder named "FTP", give access to the users (or none) wanted, and then configure my FTP server to use  D:\shares\FTP  instead (for that example).

It is a bit longer to do all of that, but I suppose that it would work.  Am I right?
