How to add line work ?

Question
-
Hi
I want to edit the default display format so that lists have some line work, similar to what you get in Edit mode.
=> I am after some tips on how to do this ? (i assume i have to make the site use a custom CSS file... so this needs teo parts, what to change in the file, and how to use the custom CSS)
I used F12 in IE to view the html but nothing sprung out at me.
Call me old fashioned but i don't like the sparse default look in SP 2013.
Thank you in advance

Hello,
which application/server are you talking about?
As this forum is about General server question you should use a forum for your specific application/server.
