Office "Save As" functionality quits working RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am using office 2010.  In the last few months the save as functionality no longer works after documents have been open a few days, without closing office completely.  This is true in Word and Excel.  I can create a new document from the right click context menu, open it and copy data from the old unsaved document into it, and then save and close the new document, but when I click save as or use the short cut keys for save as on an unsaved document, I get a quick blip on the screen and the save as dialog box does not open....Thoroughly frustrating when one is in a hurry.

Clicking Save or using shortcuts for save on an unsaved document has the same effect...a quick blip, and no dialog box.  The document maintains it name as document1, 2 or 3...

This is probably not in the right forum, but I don't see one that looks proper...so if need be, move it where it should be.

  • Office is definetly the problem, because notepad save as still works.
