product key incorrect RRS feed

  • Question

  • I just bought word 2007 home and student and am trying to install.

I have typed the product key in several times and it keeps telling me the product key is incorrect.

    What do I do next?

  • Mich,

Download and run the utility at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 , then click the Windows tab, Copy to Clipboard, then paste the report into a New Post on this Forum.

Step 2 is tell us about the COA. Tell us:

    1. What edition of Windows XP is it for, Home, Pro, or Media Center?
    2. Does it read "OEM Software" or "OEM Product" in black lettering?
    3. Or, does it have the computer manufacturer's name in black lettering?
    4. DO NOT post the Product Key.
    5. Please also provide a short description of the issue you are experiencing.

  • Dave,

Where did you purchase the copy of Word 2007?  Is this a full version, upgrade or trial version.  Please post back in a separate thread.

I can only hope you didn't purchase your student copy of Word 2007 online as a download. As I've been down this route already and have been informed they can give no support unless I have a CD as they have no recorded of my product key. I'm now left chasing up a similar problem to yours with the one reply a week, if I'm lucky, digitalriver support.

    Hello Minch,

I have been having almost the same problem, i went to MS office here in Pakistan and that is what the answer was.

I bought and Office 2007 Home and Student.

now if YOU have the same office that I have here is what you should do...

Order backup CDs at http://www.microsoft.com/office/backup/ and wait for the cds to arrive when they come there will be four in the bundle take out the CD which has "MS Office 2007 Home and Student" written on it and then install from that CD, DONOT use the cd labeled "MS Office 2007 professional" as i was told MS Office 2007 Home and student is a whole diffrent package (diffrent from all the rest of MS Offices)

Once you install from that CD it will accept your cd key...

PS: I you have a preinstalled MS Office you will have to uninstall it.
