CRM Online Customer - Where is Their "Development Environment"? RRS feed

  • Question

  • So I have a client that has 55 users on a MS Dynamics CRM Online deployment.

They are looking to develop new capabilities, but are concerned about doing development work in their current production environment.  They would like a "sandbox" / Development Environment that they could use to develop out the capabilities; test them; export the customizations; import into their production environment.

What is the standard process for a situation like this from Microsoft?

Should they simply sign up for a 30-Day Trial Subscription and import their existing production configuration?  What about production data?

I have not been able to find anything on this. - and the responses I have received so far from Microsoft are "I'm not aware of a way to handle that."
Thanks in advance for responses and discussion.

  • Hi,

I once had a same scenario and my client wanted to have a some sort of demo / test environment in CRM Online but microsoft told me is won't be possible and they need to buy another subscription for there testing / demo builds. I am not sure it would have changed since.

  • TGB:  Yes, I think that this is going to be the answer I am going to receive.  I have a call in to the Microsoft Regional Sales Manager for my customer, so I hope to find out a definitive list of options at that point.  When I have an answer, I will post.

    Thanks for your response.
