Add ins RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm not quite sure what the add ins are for or the software share folder?

Is this an add in for shared installs like itunes?

Is the software share something I can keep programs in, not installed programs but the whole program that can be accessed?

Thanks in advance for the help.

  • Addins folder is for - well, addins Smile These are brand new, so there are very few at present - see the Developers topic here, and the WHS blog at http://blogs.technet.com/homeserver/Default.aspx?p=2

The software share is for software to install, so machines on your network have a central place to install from. You should have a folder there under Home for the connector software, for example.

  • Thanks, I get it now.

With the exception of operating system disks, I always copy my downloaded or program CD rom install disks to a hard drive so I have it in one central location (which was a USB drive in the past) so I didn't have to always look for it to install on other home computers, or hope it isn't scratched, and installed from the usb drive by running the setup in it's respective folder.

I know from the blog that this share is not specifically for what I am using it for, it is better than keeping it in the public folder.
