Waking WHS from Hibernate? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I got the box up and running and am now tweaking the server.  Is it possible to have the server hibernate (my box lets me choose hibernate from the shutdown list) and wake it if needed from one of the other pcs on the network or over the internet via the assigned website?

  • Not without additional software and configuration on your server, and in the case of the Remote Access web site, not at all.

You may want to look into the Lights Out add-in, which should give you the ability to hibernate and wake your server within your home network.

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • I have the lights out deal installed.  I had some issues getting the server to hibernate last night.  I loaded some chipset drivers and will see if it hibernates tonight.

    Thanks much.
