  • Hello,

If your System Properties window is showing that you're activated and online validation says you're not, please

    1. Phone activate and speak with a customer service agent when you're given the option.  You can start by typing "slui 4" in the search field in the Start Menu and pressing Enter. Follow the prompts through phone activation (be ready for lots of numbers) and then reboot.

    2. Once you're done, please revalidate by clicking on "Validate Windows" here: www.microsoft.com/genuine

If validation succeeds you can log out and log back in or reboot to get rid of any non-genuine messaging you may be getting.

If even after you've successfully phone activated Vista still fails validation telling you to activate first, please open a free service request by visiting: https://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?c1=509&gprid=9860 and post your confirmation number here.  I'll contact you directly so we can figure out the cause of your issue.  Thank you!

  • Have you tried phone activating?

Can you tell me what error code you get (if any) when you validate by clicking "Validate Windows" here: www.microsoft.com/genuine

The error code will be gray and in brackets at the end of them message on the page that says validation failed.  (It'll look something like this:  [0xC004C000]).

    Thanks!

  • It gives the error that windows is not genuine and that we need to activate. We go in a loop. Similar to most of the issues logged here, but i have not found a solution on any of the replies.

    Kind Regards

  • Hello,

I have exactly the same problem,

I have bought Vista Premium OEM (with a new hardware),

It's work fine during 4 weeks, and this morning AERO said "It's not an authentic windows",

In the control panel (system) , my vista is activated.

Notice : I have installed the TuneUp Utilities 2007, that cleans and defrags the registery.

Your web site, to activate the genuin ..., makes an infinite loop.

    (sorry for my poor english)

  • I too am having the same problem as of Sunday.

Admittedly, this is really annoying.  I've had to activate Windows more than once on a laptop where I've *not* changed hardware, etc.

Microsoft is indeed putting the burden on users who have done nothing wrong. Grrrrr

    Monday, April 30, 2007 1:31 PM
  • I have forgoten to write the error code , it's :

    0xC004C4A6 (French Licence)

You'r right Dan, I have an official Windows XP that's work fine,

I have bough Vista to have Dx10 (for my GeForce 8800GTS) grrrrrr (too)

    Monday, April 30, 2007 1:56 PM
  • Am I correct that alot of people are having this same problem at the same time?

My Vista says it's activated....but I keep getting the popup saying it's not Genuine.  I go to get validated on the MS site and I'm told that my Windows needs to be activated before I can validate......but I am activated.

It's the same endless loop desribed by others in this thread and in a number of other threads.

Microsoft -- Please don't make me be the victim of *your* piracy problem.  I was a fan of Vista until now. Sad

    Monday, April 30, 2007 2:20 PM
  • I have called the free hot line to have a new activation key -> it's Ok now for me

But I will never know why Microsoft consider me suddenly I have a Vista's copy.

  • I have tried all that and haven't heard backin a week

  • Well, I was tired of waiting so on Sunday evening I called Microsoft and spoke to a nice guy from India who told me that their customer service office was closed until Monday (too bad I had the problem on Sunday).

I called about 20 numbers on Monday -- each number I called, I was told that a different office was responsible for fixing my problem and was given another number.  After about 4 hours of calling, being put on hold, being told to call a different number, getting disconnected, contacting the same offices over and over, and running in circles, I finally got hold of a smart lady who told me she could fix my problem.  She quickly gave me a new passkey and away I went.

Then, several days later, Microsoft starts calling me once or twice per day (often from unknown phone numbers which I refuse to answer) to ask me if the problem has been fixed.  Uhmmm....yeah....several days ago after you couldn't fix my problem and I spent hours on the phone experiencing "pass the buck" phone support.

I'm a nice and patient guy, but considering that MS has put the burden of anti-piracy on our shoulders and then doesn't have the infrustructure to support it, I began to lose said patience.

    Grrrrrr.....

    Yes, problem fixed.

So for the countless others experiencing this same issue, just try to find the phone number to get a new passkey.  Reboot....and all will work.  I wish I could get you the correct phone number, but it's lost in the jumble of numbers I went through.

Yes....I'm in a cynical mood Smile

    Dan
