How does one set up the firewall to allow UPnP devices to connect with the host PC.  I have a D-Link DSM-520 Media Player and am ablt use the standad functions to share music and poictures between my PC and television on a wirelee net.  I recently upgraded to a new application called Active-PC.  I installed active-PC software on my PC to act as the server and a firmware update on the media player to enable Active-PC on it.  If I disable my Live OneCare firewall, I can get the media player to connect to my PC and the Active-PC application works fine.  If I enable the firewall, the media player can not conenct to my PC.  Acitve-PC uses a UPnP protocol to talk to the PC.  I have tried various combinations of the standard firewall configurations with no luck.  What do I have to do to allow the connection?

  • I suspect that you need to configure the firewall to open specific ports or ranges of ports to have access through the firewall and you may also need to allow the host application to have access through the firewall, too.

Not having any experience with that media player or device, I recommend contact OneCare and/or D-Link support for help.
