  • Question

  • About this whole big story on COA's. Very common question I guess. I suppose COA's are not okay to just sel out right without the software. But correct me if I am wrong, you can get a replacement CD for the COA, like for instance if the CD had been scraches severely, or Broken, or perhaps it was lost. You can get a replacment from MS. Isn't this correct.?

Or why if I had a MS liscense, could not I get a MS OEM CD?

Thank you for visiting the Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) program forum.  I'm not sure I completely understand your post. However, if you buy an OEM machine, recovery media needs to be obtained from the OEM. If you purchase a Retail copy, the CD/DVD can be used to recover your OS. If all you have is the COA, and it's an OEM machine, you do need to contact the OEM for replacement media. If you have a COA and it is a retail copy, you can contact Microsoft for replacement media. Either way a charge is usually incurred.

Also if you have lost, broken, or misplaced your original Microsoft Office or Microsoft Publisher installation CD, you can order replacement media from Microsoft.
