[CRM4] Import Organization Wizard hanging on Update Users

Question
-
Yesterday I started to do redeployment of a CRM using the "Import Organization" of the Deployment manager.
I followed the steps of
- Backing up the database
- Restoring it on the new server
- Going to import organization
I did this for a smaller install of CRM, and this worked perfectly and the process was done very quickly.
I went to repeat this process for a larger CRM install, started it at approx 10:00am yesterday, and it seems to be hanging on "Update Users", and 20 hours later - it's still not completed. It is a large database, about 13gigs, taking 20+ hours to import seems excessive and I now think it may just be froze.
Any suggestions on how to redeploy a large orginization or how to resolve this?

Hi Evan,
I have seen this behaviour normally during the Users update process in CRM Import Wizard.
My guess is probably this happens as few users from ur imported data may not exist in the AD.
But before that just check to see that you have good RAM atleast 6GB should be good enough for your Import.
Other way is if you have less users you can go with manual way of adding and map the users manually during the import wizard by selecting the "Map users manually" and give their email ids respectively.
OR else you can add the other users later and go ahead with just adding few users and make sure the Deployment manager is also added.
This way i m sure you can achieve your import wizard fast.
Hope this clear you doubt.
Thanks
Arif.

Hi there,
i have seen this before, i was importing a db around 13GB and it was hanging on Updating Users although i left it and after 1 hour later it finished.
Server has 1 cpu: 3.4GHZ and 2GB RAM

got the same issue and even wait for more than an hour with high-spec blade server, it still wont finish!
we got a org db of 9GB with around 50 users. while the import just wont finish, I did noticed that the org db log file continue to growth from 10mb to 19GB!!!
what is the import doing with users that can have so many transactions that blow our log file!!!
strange!!
