Workstation Node : HpcIdleDetector.exe slows down excel openings RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello Expert,

We recently installed several HPC Workstation node on Win7 and Excel 2010. After installing people started to complain about slow opening of Excel.

This slow down happens even before the Excel Splash screen and only when double clicking on a excel file from explorer. When opening excel from start menu it is fine. When excel is already started it is also fine (dde link). When you use the commande line "excel %1" it is also ok.  This doesn't happen to .doc or any other extension.

I try several thing without success :

    - disable de COM addin

    - removing the com addin from excel.

    - uninstallation the HPC excel Services

And the only thing that solved the problem is to kill HpcIdleDetector.exe. However, this process comes back very quickly.

It is like if HPC was hooking all clicks on xls files and slowing them down.

Any idea to solve this ?

Any solution would be greatly appr
