Now What?

Question

I tried to remote in to WHS Vail and so far, everything I've tried fails. It won't let me use my regular login name and password to the Dashboard(Nancy Ward), Administrator, Windows Live ID (nlraines@hotmail.com), Admin, etc.I am quite sure I've not used any other IDs on WHS Vail Refresh. I tried tosimplify things, but nothing with this piece of trash is simple! As you can see, I'm getting pretty frustrated.--Nancy WardWindows 8 Beta Ferret

Hi Nancy,
Probably grasping at straws but I seem to remember you saying an earlier post that Vail did not accept your full name as the username and had abbreviated it. Not the same situation!

That's what it was, which is simplyridiculous!I think I have a total of four IDs and passwords now, which is stoooopid inmy book. Multiple LiveIDs? I don't see a problem with that. I have one tied to my MVP status, forum work, actual testing of Windows Home Server, etc., one specifically for looking at the Windows Home Server Connect site as a regular beta tester (not a WHS MVP with access to private builds, when that happens), and one for various other nefarious :-) purposes (really, for a third homeserver.com domain, which I needed for a while).
Where it gets bad is if you have multiple accounts with the same password for all of them. Social engineering hack waiting to happen...
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)Tuesday, September 7, 2010 12:36 PMModerator -

That makes four.Every time I need to do something within WHS Vail, I have to start guessingwhich ID it wants all over again. :(--Nancy WardWindows 8 Beta Ferret

Text files on each server's desktop, containing the appropriate Live ID? I wouldn't include the passwords; presumably you can remember them.
