What can I do about this deadbeat? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi folks,

I run a legitimate IT business services home and business users pcs in my local area.

There is another local computer business in the area which has been longer established than myself. Over the years, he has been selling PC's with non-genuine copies of windows xp installed.

Some of his customers phone me asking for help with their computer (As the guy who build them "doesn't seem interested"......). A lot of these computers need a windows reinstallation however I cannot (and refused) to do anything as they are unlicensed copies of windows. Due to the policies of my business, this means I loose significant time and money!

What can I do? It's getting really annoying as it's starting to hit the bottom line!

    Kind Reards,

    Jonathan

Please research the information which Dan provided earlier. Also have you visited http://www.microsoft.com/piracy ? If not please take the time and visit the site. You can submit a piracy report by following the steps @ the site. The WGA Kit for Windows XP is roughly $149.95 which would give the customer's a full retail licensing copy. Filing the piracy report can help both the existing customer as well as future customers who are being serviced by this business.  Hopefully this has provided some additional information.

    Take care,

    Stephen
