Enhance Remote Access via Browser RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've been using IE to remote into WHS in order to upload large files to the server's shared folders. Several features that I'd like to see:

    1. Cancel button. Problem is that once you start an upload, there's no way to stop it from the browser.

    2. Progress bar. Currently there's no way of knowing how far along you are in an upload. The bar at the bottom completes within a minute or so, but is waaay off.

    3. Detect upload activity - don't timeout. My browser timed out before the upload completed. Would be nice to not have that happen on large uploads.

    Thanks.

  • 1 is a good idea, not sure how it would work behind the scenes though

2 has been oft requested, but is difficult to implement on a web dialog

3 also popular, and apparently the team are working on this one, but it's unlikely we'll see this in v1

  •  I have noticed this lack of functionality as well, and I do not see why a cancel button, and status bar would be so hard to do.

Also, I wonder if there is a way for me to change the time out period for being signed in through the web console. When uploading large files I have had the session time out, which is rather frustrating.

  • All suggestions are great and seemingly necessary. How is timeout length determined? It's rather frustrating to have a timeout when a lengthy upload is almost finished. Who/what determines the timeout period?
    Thanks
