How to instal a KMS host RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear support,

I am trying to install a KMS host on a Windows 2008 R2 Server. This host should serve to Windows 7 clients for activation.

What should I do to install the host and start activating the Windows 7 clients?

    Thanks for any help.

    Best regards

Search is your friend.  A search on "install kms host" yields what you want.  For example,

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff793416.aspx and

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff793409.aspx

  • Hello Colin,

thank you for your answer. I know this articles and that is way I ask because i don't understand it.

What I want to do is to have a Windows 2008 R2 server which serves for Windows 7 desktops to activate. But if I enter slmgr.vbs /ipk Win7KmsKey on the 2008 server, it returns an error 0x2a 0xC004F015.

What am I doing wrong. As I understand it, the command slmgr.vbs /ipk KmsKey can accept only the product key for the Windows 2008.

I am a little bit confused from all the stuff. That is why I am asking.

    Thank you for understanding me.

    Best regards

  • If you don't understand the articles please get help from an IT professional, co-worker or other person on site.  All anyone here is likely to do is repeat the same set of instructions.

  • This forums is more geared to consumer level issues and questions. The people in one of the Technet forums will probably be more help http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/categories/
