Moving to a new domain eg xxxx\jdoe to yyyy\jdoef1 RRS feed

  • Hi,

    Our organisation is moving to a new domain so is it a simple case of changing the User name field in the User Entity to what it is in Active Directory so that Active Directory can resolve with the User Name field? I feel this way all the associated records will be with the existing SystemUserId in the database back end as I am only changing the User Name field.

    I want to confirm that if I only change the User Name from xxxx\jdoe to yyyy\jdoef1 to match the AD value of yyyy\jdoef1 then the user will be able to log in to CRM 2011?

    Please help.

  • Hi,

    I believe that you will have other issues with this, since you are moving to another domain you are probably changing AD server so you would have to make a few changes. How are you doing that part?

  • Is the CRM Server being moved to a new domain, or is it just user accounts that are moving ? If the CRM Server is being moved, you will need to reinstall the CRM Server first.

    Either way, I think the best way to change the user accounts would be to import the organisation database, and map the users to their new accounts during the import
