  • Hello,

    I was redirected here from another ms user group site.

    My problem is that I have been a frequent downloader of ms updates and had my version of Windows checked (and proved valid) several times. However,  recently I downloaded several updates including media player and IE7. When I next started up my pc I was (and still am being) advised that  I may be a victim of software fraud and that my version of windows is counterfeit. I tried revalidating it using all the ms advice given but was told that "there is a technical error" and the validation tool cannot continue (or words to that affect). I contacted one of the user forums and was told to download the MGA diagnostic tool (52012) and post the results on this site. So here they are, can anyone help or offer advice please? I still have my original OEM discs and windowsXP code. Thank you.

  • Re-run the diagnostics output, and click continue. when the window with the diagnostics data comes up, you should see a button on the lower left side that says "resolve". Click that button, and that should take care of the issue.

    Please let us know if it works or not, either way.

    (Had to sign in with a different user name). Ran diagnostic tool again, did the resolve thing. Now I'm genuine. Thank you very much for your help.

    I feel as if I've  just been given a "not guilty" verdict by the jury !!

    Unfortunately, your copy of MS Office Professional 2003 is nongenuine (Office status=114 means nongenuine).  If this comes as a surprise to you, please return to where you purchased it and demand a refund or the genuine MS software you paid for.  In nay case, please uninstall the nongenuine installation of Office 2003 as soon as possible.
