  • Windows 7 was working perfectly until today.  All of a sudden it is displaying an error in the bottom right corner of my screen "Windows 7 / Build 7601 / This copy of windows is not genuine."  I purchased this copy of windows 7 through Digital River as a promotional deal through my college.  Below is my Diagnostic Report.

  • I am having the exact issue as described above, system worked fine for a few years !  now I get  the same error message.

     

    I also purchased from digital river.

     

    called microsoft and was told someone would get back to me in three days !

      Most Non-Genuine issue look the same regardless of the true underlying cause. So to help minimize the confusion caused by troubleshooting multiple different issues, we ask that all users creat their own thread for thier own specific issue.

     

      In other words, please do not post "Me Too" messages in other people's threads.

  • After calling Microsoft, it appears that this issue was caused during a system update.  I now have to wait 2-3 days for a tech supervisor to call me back and either A. unblock my key or B. issue me a new key.  Got to love it.

  • I just wanted to update this thread.

    There appears to have been an issue with the Product key Activation/Validation servers that only effected a subset of Digitally Distributed Product keys.

    This issue has been corrected and user that were affected by this should no longer be seeing a Non-Genuine/Key Blocked error.

    If you do still see this error please try the following:

    1) Reboot and then re-try Activating and/or Validating.

    2) If you still see the issue, please contact Microsoft Assisted Support (at one of the below URLs)
