Cannot unmark answer

    Question

  • There's probably already a thread for these type of requests... but

The following thread in the WSUS forum has a post (mine) improperly marked as an "Answer" (it's not, it's an inquiry for more information), and I'm unable to unmark it as an answer. (I'm a mod, I should be able to unmark an answer, but the attempt just times out trying to talk to the server.)

Please unmark the answer in this thread, and arrange for some additional training for the CSG moderators to understand the difference between a Question, an Inquiry, and an actual Answer.

  • You may want to email fissues (at) microsoft [dot] com about this to get a faster fix, most of the people who will see this thread won't be moderators or admins in the WSUS forum.

Being a moderator in the forum isn't helping. I AM a moderator in that forum and I cannot make the change. It's not an access rights issue, it's a responsiveness issue. Something is broke somewhere preventing the change from being made.

    I will email also, though.

  • I recently marked a proposed answer by mistake in a forum I moderate. I also was unable to unmark it. I clicked "Unpropose as answer", but it timed out. After that I no longer had the option. I think there is a bug.

Ok, I just duplicated the problem. I proposed Mike's reply above as an answer, refreshed, then clicked "Unpropose as answer". After some time I got "unexpected error", but the spinner never stopped. I had to click stop and refresh. This time, however, I still see the "Unpropose as answer". I don't think I did when this happened to me before.

  • Silver lining - you see an unpropose link. I'm still unable to unpropose any answers I mark after I refresh the page (with the exception of here in Forums Issues due to the Answerer role). The link disappears and never returns.

Yeah, my thought was they could perhaps make the change locally instead of having to use this wonderful web interface.

  • BTW, I had no problem unproposing the answer you proposed earlier (although I think it may qualify as an answer). It is probably only when the same person tries to unmark or unpropose.

I think this issue is only happening in the thread that was initially linked to. That's why I'm thinking this will need to be fixed at the source.
