  • After some back and forth emails with OneCare support, I finally have a fix.  Actually, it was not support that helped me, but something I figured out on my own, which is why I wanted to share this here.

If you cannot Activate your OneCare product, you must make sure that Internet Explorer is configured to "trust" the activation web site.

This is done by opening Internet Explorer, clicking Tools-Internet Options, clicking on the Security tab selecting the Trusted Sites icon, clicking the Sites button, and then add the following URL to the list of Trusted site:

    http://iorigin.onecare.live.com

  • The most common reason for this error, which is actually a LiveID/Passport network error, is that you system date and time is off. Check that first.

If that doesn't work, contact support for assistance - http://help.live.com/help.aspx?project=onecarev2&mkt=en-us

  • I've gone to Help for Live with no answer to this.  If I go through the sign-up manually, I receive the following error...

Windows Live ID is unavailable from this site for one of the following reasons
This site may be experiencing a problem.
The site may not be a member of Windows Live ID

  • Rod, I assume you can sign into other LiveID enabled sites, such as the forums. Are you able to get a support case started from here -

http://help.live.com/help.aspx?project=onecarev2 - use the "Get More Help" link in the lower right of the page to contact support
