Missing file after restore RRS feed

  • Question

  • OK, my HD crashed but I've been a good OneCare boy and done fairly regular backups.  I restored my data on my new computer--but for the life of me cannot find two important files---one is a simple .pwa (password agent) file and the other is my Quicken backup.

Is there a way to go back to the zipped files on my external HD and find them?  Or--is there something simple I'm doing in search with the new (to me) Vista OS I'm running?

  • I'll add that it is possible that the .pwa file was not backed up. Check your backup file by doing a custom restore and browsing the backup list for that file.
The Quicken files should have been backed up if you selected Financial files in your plan. I believe that Quicken stores its files within the \Program Files tree, so the restore may have placed these files in the alternate backup location \Windows Live OneCare Restore (or similar named folder) at the top level of the C:\ drive.
