  • If you run HPC Pack setup on a client machine, there is an option to "install client utilities" which will install the Job Manager (the user interface for end-users), Cluster Manager (user interface for admins to manage the cluster), PowerShell cmdlets, API's, and Command Line Interface.  Any of those can be used to submit job from a remote client (no need to log onto the headnode).

You can enable users to log onto the head node by configuring Terminal Services on the head node and then adding them to the remote users group.

    Thanks,

  • You should be able to allow local logins by going to Administrative Tools -> Local Security Policy -> Local Policies -> Security Options.  If you can't that may indicate that you have a Group Policy on your domain which forbids this.

Users don't need to log onto the head node to submit.  They can install the Client Utilities on their workstation to submit and manage jobs remotely.

    Thanks!

  • Thanks for your answer. But for the second question, i mean the user in domain users group logons the headnode  LOCALLY, not through remote desktop. I found that in the local group policy , the "Allow log on locally" item can NOT be modified. Is there another way to allow the users in domain users log on locally?

    Thanks.
