NET LOCALGROUP RRS feed

  • Question

    1. On server 2000 or 2003, if I use

          SET ACCOUNT="NEWUSER"
NET LOCALGROUP "BACKUP OPERATORS" / ADD %ACCOUNT%

to add a new local account into "backup operators". What will happen to the password of the new user? The password will be blank? The password will be set to "never expired" or "have to change at first time"?

If I would like to use a parameter as the password and would like to set it as never expired, how to modify the script?

    2.     SET DOMAINACCOUNT="DOMAINABC\NEWUSER"
NET LOCALGROUP "BACKUP OPERATORS" / ADD %DOMAINACCOUNT%

if the above ran on a machine belong to workgroup or non-trusted domain, there should be a error. Is there any possible for "NET LOCALGROUP "BACKUP OPERATORS" / ADD %DOMAINACCOUNT%" to create a local user?

    Thanks.
