My Windows Vista home premium product key is not working

Question
-
I got my new computer last month. I apparently haven't registered it in 30 days, because it is now asking me to register it, and won't start up windows. It hasn't prompted me for the product key when I first installed it, so I never knew. Now, I type it in, and it tells me it isn't valid. What do I do?Thursday, May 17, 2007 12:17 AM

Because this forum is dedicated to validation issues, you’ll need to contact outside support for the expertise necessary to troubleshoot your activation issue. You can do so by posting or searching in the Vista pubic newsgroups, found here: http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.mspx or by following this link to Product Support Services. Microsoft has a 90 day free support period that starts on the day you first acquire Vista.
If you bought your computer pre-installed with Vista either from a computer store or an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) like Dell or Gateway, you’ll need to contact them for support. Thank you!

I feel your pain. I bought mine from Dell about 6 months ago and have been experiencing this issue about every 30 to 45 days I get this or some other start up issue with Windows Vista. It is extremely frustrating
I got a system exchange and am still having the same issue with the new system. I am convinced it is a problem will the Vista OS because of the carryover to the new computer. I want to go back to XP

This reply from MS is unacceptable and arrogant. The retailer, in my case Costco, is a big box store with absolutely no technical help. You sold this product with a huge flaw -- a product key, affixed to the laptop itself, that does not work. All came pre-loaded, without a CD. You are by any reasonable definition responsible for providing a working product key -- or a solution. And blithely telling people to contact the retailer for "support" is just plain infuriating. What kind of business are you people running?Saturday, March 22, 2008 11:12 PM

I am having the same problem. Dell (in my case) was absolutely no help. Microsoft will never help anyone because they are an evil corporation. All they want is money, and spending money on a new OS is the only way to resolve. If everyone works together, we can take down MicrosoftThursday, July 3, 2008 11:50 AM
