Reverted from VISTA SP2 RTM with problems RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello! After installing SP2, i'we noticed "Evaluation Copy" Notice in the right corner.
After attempt to re-activate my copy (OEM on Compaq notebook) status changed to "Actvated" but "Evaluation Copy" remained.
So, i  decided to roll back to SP1. Uninstallation failed, System restore finished only after 3 attemps.
Now i have Vista with not working Control Panel Applet, and  i cant run "Software Licensing" service. also, solutions to re-activate isn't working (run as administrator:

    C:\Windows\system32>cscript %windir%\System32\slmgr.vbs /ilc %windir%\System32\l
    icensing\ppdlic\Security-Licensing-SLC-ppdlic.xrm-ms
Microsoft (R) Windows Script Host Version 5.7
Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

C:\Windows\System32\slmgr.vbs(1634, 5) Microsoft VBScript runtime error: Permiss
    ion denied
Is there any suggestions, how to fix CP, or at least active my copy ?

  • Hello CAJAX,

The "Evaluation Copy' message refers to the fact that Service Pack 2 is still a Release Candidate (i.e. it's Beta software for Bete testers to Evaluate). Your Vista is activated, but you are still using an "Evaluation Copy" of SP2.

Unless you are seeing a Non-Genuine message, my assumption is that your issue is Service Pack 2 related and I suggest going to the SP2 support forum at http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/itprovistasp/threads/
