problems with "Add a PC to your One Care circle" RRS feed

  • Question

  •

    The instructions say-

To make a computer a hub PC:
    1. Open Windows Live OneCare.
    2. Click Manage your OneCare circle, and then click Add a PC to your OneCare circle.
    3. Click Make this PC a hub PC.

well there is nothing in the dialog box to click.

unfortunately I can't paste the dialog box into this message.

  • The instructions are actually a bit odd.

A circle is defined as all PCs activated with the same Subscription LiveID. So, if you have made a PC into a Hub, per step 3 above, then install OneCare on the 2nd PC (or 3rd) and activate with the same LiveID and it will appear in the list of computers in your Circle.

  • Well, for whatever reason, I missed the "Adding" part when I activated it.  Now there does not appear to be a way to add it to my circle.

    Any ideas?

There is no "Adding" part. When you activate a PC using the same subscription LiveID as your initial PC, that PC joins the Circle. One of the PCs needs to be made a Hub in order to see the status of the other PC as well as its own status.

  • One PC has been a hub for over a year.

I just reinstalled OneCare on my laptop after rebuilding it, I activated OneCare on the laptop but it is not showing up on my OneCare hub PC's list of "OneCare Circle".

  • See my reply to your post in the other thread. I advised you there to contact support if you can confirm that all PCs are using the same LiveID and that you didn't install a beta on one PC (from Connect - the download from http://onecare.live.com is not a beta). The addition of the monitored PC on the hub happens via communication of the subscription profile and status to the hub.
