Help running Game server RRS feed

  • Question

Hi, well, I took a leap into trying to run a game server on my Windonws home Server, and I just cant figure out why it can't be done.  I've ran my server on a regular home pc just fine, but when I tried to run it on the HP Mediasmart Windows Home Server, It starts to run, then shuts off automaticly everytime.  I'm thinking its Windows that keeps preventing the program from running.

My question is, Is there anyway around windows so it's not shut off automaticly?  I have tried running it from both the C drive and D drive as well.

The Dedicated Game Server I'm trying to run is Quake 3 Arena.

    Thanks.

That being said I would suggest looking into whatever logs Q3A is leaving behind when it closes.

There is nothing inherent about Windows Home Server or the HP MediaSmart software which should prevent you from running a Q3 server... so it is very possible that Q3 is looking for something which isn't installed by default.
