CD/DVD burner not working

Question
-
I have new Acer Aspire M5641, came with Vista installed, downgraded to XP Pro. Worked fine for several months, but now I can't burn data to a CD. Tried using third party software (InfraRecorder) and I'm able to burn CD's. But, I would like to use the conventional way.
Any thoughts,
Thank in advance,
