User is in familiar location interrupt state RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We are a live chat application that developed an integration with Dynamics CRM. We are using java and our server is hosted in Google App engine. The authentication and all the other SOAP requests are done from server side. One of our customers is trying to authenticate and I see we get an exception : 'User is in familiar location interrupt state'. I searched here in the forum but there is no explanation why this message really appears. Is it because he is trying to authenticate from another location?

    Thanks,

  • Hi Jenny,

You are right. Its an authentication mechanism that locks users from using any of their windows live services outside of their location. If you are using CMR online then it can happen if you use windows live Ids to authenticate your users.

Although, its a security feature but you can contact Microsoft support and ask them if they can disable familiar location checking for you. An alternate is that users can use an access request code form Microsoft to unlock their location and then they can log in with out an issue.

  • Hi Imran,

    Thanks for you suggestions.

Your second suggestion is to unlock the location which is a problem for us because the authentication is done from our backend for our customers and it's hosted inside google app engine. Is there a way to create a Live ID user and disable this security feature without contacting Microsoft?

  • I am also having this problem.

I went on my users Live account, but I cannot find a way to request that this feature be disabled.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?
