Retrieving Files from WHS install Disk RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Guys,

If there is a thread answering my question please advise, i was unable to find my answer

    Trying to keep it brief:

-WHS installed on 320Gb IDE drive with remaining data on SATA drives

-MB died, my new MB does not have IDE port

-I have since installed WHS again on SATA drive and that works fine

    Issue:

-When i connect the 320Gb IDE to another machine and go to d:\share\Video - Music - etc etc, it lists all the files that were in the storage pool not just the 300Gb of files that are actually on that drive (Remaining 20Gb c:\)

-Is there anyway to find just the actual files on the disk?

    Thanks alot guys,

    phil

  • What you found were the tombstones, not the actual files.  Try taking a look at

    D:\DE\shares\Videos....etc.

Keep in mind, there might not be much there, it depends on how full your storage pool was getting.

  • Hi bull thanks for the quick reply,

How embarrassing, i just presumed that the old machine i dug out of the shed was "showing hidden files"

Clicked show hidden and there they were.

Appologies for the thread guys, feel free to remove/delete
