newby to c# RRS feed

  • Question

  • hi

I have inherited a half finished website written in c# and been asked to complete and publish it for a friend. I have had a look at it in visual basic and all the graphics are there but it hasn't got a database or any SQL connections.

I was wondering how to connect a database to the website , I have downloaded assure but have no ideas how to use it. Any help will be very welcome

  • That would be Azure rather than assure?

You mention both visual basic and c#.

This thing is written in vb and you plan on converting it to c#?

    But there's no database?

And you don't know how to connect a database to it?

How confident are you on developing web sites in c#?

Have you considered whether you can do this?

Because it's understandable you want to help a friend out... but it takes some experience before you can deliver a reliable web site.

This is a public facing website?

There are costs from using azure.

If you aren't experienced then in helping your friend out you could well end up writing something which runs up an unexpected bill.

Since this is a web site you're talking about then you should really be posting in the forums for best support.

I would move this thread but unfortunately those forums are on a different platform.

    Good luck!

    Hope that helps.
