EXIF orientation in photos not supported? RRS feed

  • Question

  • My Canon Powershot G9 camera supports the EXIF orientation tag for JPG files, so that my photos that are shot in portrait mode are automatically displayed upright.

However, all Windows versions, including Windows 7 and Windows Home Server 2011 do not support this feature. This means I still have to manually rotate all portrait mode photos.

Why is this not supported (the standard exists for quite some years and all recent digital photo cameras support it) and are there any plans to include this feature in future updates of WHS 2011?

  • My suspicion is taht this feature will not be added to any current Windows version. YOu should, however, certainly submit a product suggestion on Connect for Windows Home Server.

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

Do you have a link to submit suggestions? This is like 19th century.
