OCS 2007 Enterprise: can not synchronize address book RRS feed

    I installed OCS 2007 Enterprise on a single server. After a fight with certificates I'm able to add other people to my OCS contacts, but I can find them only with the full sip and not with the first name for example.

    What can I check to make OCS ready to syncronize with the global address book?

  • Can you verify the Addressbook URL in Office Communication Server

    Open the Enterprise Pool tree and select the server => Open the Address book settings on the right pane

    Verify the URL and try it out


    Also verify that you have configured a certificate for your webserver

    thanks for your answer. I did configure a certificate for the webserver. In the address book server settings I found the url https://myocs.domain.local/Abs/Int/Handler , if I try to reach that with IE I get a "cannot display website". Do you have a idea what to do?

    If I look in the IIS in that path under the default website I can only find a "Web.config" file, is that OK?

    Under https://myocs.domain.local/Abs/Int/Files I have F-0ae4.dabs, F-0ae4.lsabs and a Invalid_AD_Phone_Numbers.txt file.

    In the default website properties in the tab "Directory Security" I'm using the ocs component account for "Authentication and access control". Is that OK?

  • Form an internal client see if you can access this URL from a web browser:




    You should see a Live Meeting client troubelshooting page; this at least verifies that the front-end web service is operating and SSL is functioning.

  • No, I can't see the website. Sounds like a IIS problem? I have problems with every https connection to the server. There is no firewall or something like that, so do you have an idea what I can check in IIS to get it working?

  • Can you browse to the default http: site on that front-end server?  You should get the default "Under construction" page that IIS shows on the root.


    If that works then it soulnds like you have a problem with the certificate or the SSL configuration in IIS.  What error do you get when trying the link above?

  • Check firewall for port 443.  check bindings on default web site.  Need bindings for https.

    I have a same problem until now .. Office Communicator always show "Cannot Synchronize Address Book". Rest Call communication and other things are ok...

    Please give us the solution ...

  • Dumb question maybe, but did you install the address book server in your EE installation?

    Can you run your front end validation wizard?  What if any issues reported there?

  • Make sure the LSGroupExpAppPool is running in IIS under Application pools. The account setup to run the app pool needs to have "Log on as a batch Job" permissions in the security policy and be set to never expire the password.
