No Motherboard Drivers RRS feed

  • Question

  • I picked up an ASUS M4A78 Pro (780G Chipset) motherboard for my new WHS build, unfortunately the motherboard does not come with Win 2003 drivers, and it doesn’t look like I am able to download the drivers from ASUS's website. Any suggestions? Can I use XP drivers? Vista?

  • Usually, drivers for Windows XP will work equally well.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • If the XP drivers reject to install, you have still two chances:
get drivers from the maker of the mainboards chipset directly and/or try to use the compatibility mode by right clicking the setup program, selecting Properties, opening the Compatibility tab and selecting to be compatible with Windows XP.
After confirming try to run the setup program again.

  • I used an ASUS P5Q in my server and had the same issue with the drivers. I intalled just the key drives for the LAN and such by using the compatibility mode for Windows 2000. I am not sure if I need any other drivers installed everything seems to be working fine and after reading through these forums I am hesitant to play around with the actual server if I do not need to.

  • In order, try drivers from Windows Update / Windows autodetect, Windows XP, and Windows 2000.
