Moved to new server, client has environment variable looking for old server RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have recently purchased a new server and installed 2011 new. I moved all the files from the old server and powered it down.

I didn't want to fully decommission the old server until we were sure everything was OK with the new one.

However, we have encountered 'one' odd issue.  On my Windows Vista Prof machine, anytime I need to install a patch or remove a program, I get an Error 1606 cannot connect to \\servername\photos. Of course, this path existed on the old server. The Vista machine has no mapped drives trying to connect to this old servername and path. But, I'm getting this error for all programs, including today's Java update.

I have checked the environment variables to make sure none of them are pointing this this UNC path, \\servername\photos, I have searched the registry for this text, I have echo'd all the path variable names to ensure they aren't looking here for something.

    Other Ideas?   Thanks!
