Something has caused my Windows Vista 64 bit system to appear not to be validated RRS feed

  • Question

  • Following the guidance of another sticky thread, I am starting my own thread with diagnostic information. The latest recent things that have occurred on this PC is that I ran all the important windows updates (I had been putting this off forever) and I seem to have noticed Avast having updated itself, although this happens regularly anyway.

You should also scan your system using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (www.malwarebytes.org - do NOT enable the resident scanner when you install it)

  • I don't know if this is related, but it seems to have started at the same time, so I assume it is. If I try to start Windows Media Center, I get a message:

Windows cannot open this program because it has been prevented by a software restriction policy. For more information contact your system administrator.

Note there is no system administrator. This is my personal computer at home that I've been using with little problem for the last few years.
