Show disk usage for folder duplication RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have 3 drives (1 system and 2 data) on my PC and I do enable folder duplications on all of my shares. So far, I have about 1.3G of data on all the shares. But since there is no drive letter on the data drives, so there is no way for me to check whether the files are really duplicated on those drives or not. So I wonder, would it be possible to show the disk usage due to folder duplication in the "Server Storage" page, ie, besides Shared Folders, PC Backups, Operating System and Free Space, add a item called "Folder Duplication" which show the amount of space allocated due to "Folder Duplication"?

Also, it would be great I can check how much free space and used space on each individual hard drive if possible.

    Thanks

  • There are other, probably easier, ways to gain access to utilization information for the disks attached to your WHS system. Probably the easiest right now is to use the Disk Management MMC snap-in.

Since the SDK has now been released, I expect that it will be possible to create your own Server Storage console equivalent that will show more information than the one in the WHS Console today. All the information you need is exposed in either the WHS APIs or standard Windows APIs. See e.g. here.

As far as showing space used by duplication, the overall number is already shown under the pie chart on the Server Storage tab of the console.

  • I agree of you.The Stroage Allocation in HSC only display the space that the total space of my all hard drive.

But let me tell you that actually although there are no drive letter for the other HD, you can open C:\fs and see some HD dile. It will auto point to your data HD. You can right click it and press Properits, then you can see your HD usage.
