Vista did not pass genuine validation

-
I have a laptop that had Vista Professional. The computer orginally belonged to a business but was given to my husband. The computer crashed and needed the OS reinstalled but we did not possess a recovery disk or the original installation disks. We took the laptop to a computer business to see if they could save the data files and get the computer running again. The computer was fixed but Vista Home edition was installed in lieu of Professional. How can I fix the validation problem? An odd note is that the computer is a HP, but the Windows Activation window prompts us to contact Dell..???

Please see: HP Notebook PCs - Order Recovery Discs for Windows 7, Vista, or XP for instructions on how to order the correct Windows operating system recovery disc for your HP Compaq notebook computer. The recovery disc will reformat the hard drive and install the correct Windows operating system originally specified by HP.
