Why does OneCare schedule a virus run while it is in the middle of determining what files to back up? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Every time I've experienced a problem with backing up, I've had to restart the whole setting up of the backup process. However, the most annoying part is that a virus run isn't going when I start the backup process, but by the time it's spent ~10m gathering data about what should be backed up, and gives me the screen to select what I am supposed to back up, it has started a virus checking run, and then backup complains that it cannot start. So I have to cancel the backup entirely (not pause it, mind you), cancel the virus run, and then start over and spend another ~15m just to get back to the point where I'm starting to actually back up software. Why doesn't OneCare remember it's trying to back up things and not start a virus run?

  • That is annoying. You can change when the virus scan is set to run, but I'm sorry that you encountered the conflict to begin with.
