Error 0x80070424 on attempt to reactivate licence windows vista 64x home premium. MGA results I have an invalid license. How do I fix this. RRS feed

  • Question

  •

The license key shown in the MGA results is not the license key on the windows license sticker.  System has run with this OK since March 2008.  How do I fix this?

Window update fails.  I get the 80070424 error code even if I use the sticker key.

Restore point won't work.  The ones prior to the problem are no longer listed.  Just the ones within the last 15 days.  Last window update was May 9th.

I was installing Quicken 2011 and had to turn off user account control to get the registration completed.  Bug in their software.  When I reactivated user account control 5 days later, the problem began.

Somehow, your Software Licensing Service has been Uninstalled - and also probably the Volume Shadow Copy service.

I have managed to solve these problems for a couple of other people, but would not yet want to publish the solution, as it's still relatively early in the development cycle.
Please email me at ngsATcrashfixpcDOTcoDOTuk (make the obvious changes) and I'll see what I can do.
