WHS and odd wake on LAN behaviour

Question
-
My setp up is
* WHS running PP3
* Desktop on wired LAN running Win 7 Ultimate
* Laptop on wifi running Win 7 Home Premium
* Laptop on wifi running Win XP
As expected the Desktop wakes on LAN and does it backup
As expected the Win 7 laptop does not wake as it is on wifi and not connected....I know that if I want it backed up I plug it in to the ethernet cable on the study desk
BUT the Win XP laptops wakes up, connects via wifi and does its backuip each night...HUH?? I cannot believe that WIFI does the 'wake-up', it there some celver batch code on the machine to wake it up??
More a curiousity but would be good it the Win 7 machine did it too!!Monday, November 30, 2009 12:18 AM

Windows Home Server doesn't use Wake On LAN to control client backups. It uses a hidden scheduled task and hardware timers to wake a computer for backup, controlled from the client.

With the exception of my desktop machine (which doesn't hibernate successfully because of legacy hardware that I can't do without) every computer in my home is able to wake from sleep and back up. Computers that use a wireless LAN connection to your server may have issues backing up successfully, since some computers take quite a bit of time to connect wirelessly. Computers using a wired LAN connection shouldn't have any problem, assuming they can be configured to wake from sleep automatically at all.
Uninstalling the connector, rebooting, then reinstalling it, on the desktop machine that isn't waking to back up certainly won't hurt. :)
