An on-premise install is as simple as creating a website and pointing to your portal files (once you get the solution imported to CRM which is the same as the instructions for CRM Online). The only thing you will need to validate is that the application
pool for the website is running .Net 4.0. As for authentication, this is a standard asp.net website. You can add a membership provider and reconfigure the logon.aspx page to use a forms-based authentication mechanism instead of Live ID / ACS.
One thing you should watch for is that the commercial version of the portal from Adxstudio is about to release with support for all authentication mechanisms, including a contact membership provider, Azure ACS, and DotNetOpenAuth authentication. You
will be able to authenticate with any of these mechanisms without making any code changes to the portal at all. This is due by the end of January.
