Live Mesh with Access mde / mdb and multiple users

Question
-
I've seen a couple "won't work" threads on this topic, but they were about a year old and I'm wondering if the situation has been improved.I have a relatively small (20M) or so Access database that is used by multiple people in multiple cities and the indirect synch thing has been a problem for us for years now. What will happen if I have an mdb file on Mesh which is synched with multiple users, and 2 or more users edit the mdb file on their own computers at the same time?2 people would never be editing the same record at the same time because each user works with different records, but they WOULD be adding records to the same tables. Will this synchronization work? I'm hoping hoping hoping it will!!!Monday, September 21, 2009 9:58 PM

You will encounter a conflict if two users edit the local copy of the database at the same time. Live Mesh will then require you to choose which copy to keep. Live Mesh cannot merge the files.
You should probably consider alternatives. Perhaps the database can export new records to a local file unique to each location and the database automatically import the exported file on open and/or on schedule - with the exported file being the item in the Meshed folder. I don't know how to actually do this, but it seems like a decent alternative. Each user would have their own local copy of the database and those local databases update by using data entry *and* via importing data that finds its way into the Mesh folder shared between all locations.

Get Microsoft Sharepoint online or other Sharepoint service, or internal server running Sharepoint.
Convert the access database to store its information in Sharepoint tables. (wizard based in Access 2007).
You can now use access and make changes to the database from multiple locations, or use the Sharepoint interface as well!

That's certainly another solution, JT.
