OCS R2: Find Users = "Could not create the query dialog" RRS feed

  • Question

  • I just completed a migration from OCS R1 to R2 in an environment containing a 1 Front End and 1 Edge server.  Everything is working fine at this point, communication inside/outside the network works flawlessly.

The problem is, when I launch the OCS R2 admin console, browse down to "Users", right-click and do a "Find users", I get an error that says "Could not create the query dialog"

Any thoughts?  I've confirmed that my SRV records are correct - if I do a nslookup on _sipinternaltls._tcp.example.com , it returns my R2 FE server.

  • Update - if I install the admin tools on another server, I'm able to use the "find users" option.  It's just an issue when trying it directly from the OCS R2 server... thoughts?

  • Are you running OCS 2007 R2 on Windows 2003 or Windows 2008?  I had the same experience a while back on Windows 2008 and never did find a fix for it.

  • Bump.... and an update, I still get this error, but only when accessing the snap-in from a 2008 server (not sure about vista).  If I load the OCS admin console on a 2003 server, I'm able to use the "find users" option.  Still looking for a solution.

  • Installed the hotfix KB953582 on the Windows Server 2008, reboot the server and reinstall the OCS R2 Admin Tools.

  • KB953582 applies to both x86 and x64 versions of Windows Server 2008 and Vista. This fixes the "Find Users" issue, among others.

Hope this helps. Do let us know. Thanks.
