  • Question

  • I have a PC running WHS connected to Linksys WCG200. Also connected to the WCG200 are a HP2750 printer, another PC running XP pro, a wireless laptop running XP Home and a wireless laptop running Vista Business. The trouble is I can  access the server from all the PC's connected to the WCG200 but cannot access the WHS from any other PC such as from work or any other remote PC. I have remote access enabled on the WHS and have done the port forwarding on the WCG200 for port 80,443 and 4125. I have also obtained a domain name and entered it in WHS. Any suggestions?

  • When you open your Consol and access the Remote Access page from the settings tab, what do you get when you check the Router and Domain Name details pages? If there are some red X's, maybe your ISP could be blocking the ports.  When you try from elsewhere, have you also tried https as well as http?

Is it possible that the network at your work is blocking the access?  I can access my WHS remote website from work no problem, but cant RDC into the WHS through the same website.  I'm pretty sure my employer is blocking this.

Also, is the Windows Firewall or another firewall on the WHS blocking the inbound request?  Go to: http://www.canyouseeme.org/ and see if it can see you through the ports you opened.

BTW, did you set up your ??????.homeserver.com via the Connector?  The WHS should set the ports appropriately on your router.

  • I asked Comcast and they said they do not block any ports. Maybe I should ask again. Yes I have tried http and https. All of the items under Domain Name Details are checked green. The Router Status says " Not Configured". The Router details are as follows:

" Verifying that your Web site is available on your home server" is checked green

" Verifying that Reomte Access is available on your home server" is checked green

The other three have the yellow triangles which is where I need help.

  • I tried ports 80 and 443 using http://www.canyouseeme.org/. They worked OK. Port 4125 did not. I had to set up my router, WCG200, manually.
