I have purchased Microsoft Home & Student 2007 and Office Outlook 2007. Do I first uninstall the non-genuine applications before installing these new software? I located my Personal Folders File on my computer. Should I copy it to a temporary folder and then into Outlook 2007 after I install it? I afraid of losing all my folders and emails.
Thanks for your expert guidance! MontereySunday, September 27, 2009 5:58 PM

Monterey,
Normally it is usually suggested that you uninstall nongenuine software before installing their genuine replacements. But, in your case, because you will be replacing a much older version of Office with the current version of two different editons of Office 2007 products, IMO your best chance of making sure your current settings and data in Office XP are picked up by Office H&S 2007 and Outlook 2007 would be to install them with the old Office XP still on the computer.
Once Office and Outlook 2007 are installed, open each application to make sure that your settings and data have been inorporated. If not, trouble shoot that first.
Once your settings and data are available in the new Office and Outlook, only then uninstall the old Office XP.
Finally, visit www.microsoft.com/genuine and click on Validate Office to make sure the OGA Notifier cache has been cleared and that the OGA program is seeing that (1) the old nongenuine Office XP is gone and (2) both of your new Office programs are genuine.
