  • Question

  • Hello,
I am using a business KMS license which worked well until very recently. My Vista is activated, but the MGA tool does display a wrong (invalid) produkt key and error code [0xC004C008]. BTW: my key looks like this *****-*****-3Q7GC-VTDYR-PFRVJ.

How come I have an invalid License error now?

It looks like your copy of Windows Vista was never activated against your organization's KMS server. I suggest contacting your IT adminsitrator to recieve steps on activating against your business's KMS.

  • Very true. I didnt know that Micro$oft didnt release a KMS server yet thus a KMS licence cannot be activated at all except at that japanese hacked server.

Anyways, got it resolved with a MAK. Thanks for your advice.

  • What is your business name? Where did you get the Volume KMS image? Where did you get that product key you are typing in?

    Thanks,

  • How come this concerns you? This has nothing to do with my problem anymore, does it? I am getting the feeling you indirectly acuse me of pirating and I do not like that!
Where the hell do you think I got the MAK from?!? Since you guys from MSFT did not manage to release a KMS server in time and thus consumers cannot activatea KMS licencses yet what other solution execept getting a MAK to keep Vista updated and secured is possible? NONE!

Perhaps you can do a wild guess where I got that key from by reading your post before I got my problem resolved...

  • The product key you attempted to type originally is to activate a KMS Server. The image you originally were trying to use (Vista Business - Volume KMS) is a special image that is for creating a KMS Server.

The product key you're trying to use is not for activating KMS Client machines. As KMS client machines must activate against their organization's KMS servers. KMS servers have been available to activate with MSFT provided they have an Microsoft License Agreement number.

For that product key you're trying to originally activate with, could you provide me with the Microsoft License agreement number? I can follow up with your IT administrator and help walkthrough/setup his KMS Server for the business so clients can activate their copy of Vista appropriately.

    Thanks,

  • Well, the licence was bought through http://www.softwarehouse.de/ as an product used in the educational sector. Also, I belive we bought it pretty much the day it was avaiable for as at the end of december.
I do not have a Microsoft license number. Our order was:

Microsoft SELECT                       5    Lizenz                   265,55 EUR

    Windows Vista Business
    Upgrade-Lizenz
    Deutsch

  • I will need a Microsoft License Agreement number in order to verify the key as genuine.

    Thanks!

  • Well, I dont have that or better: I dont know where to get that number.
And honestly, I dont really care much anymore, since I got my Vista activated and verified with the Multiple Activation Key (MAK). This registration struggle really makes me angry! It seems like Microsoft did not really think all possibilities through.

Aditionally, I dont understand what and why you want to verify my KMS key anyways.
So I guess this thread may be closed.

  • For me to be able to help serve you better, could you please provide me with the Microsoft License Agreement Number for the KMS product key you were originally trying to use? Vista Volume Licensing is pretty hectic and I can better help your IT administrator if I could contact them directly.
