Windows 7 Not Genuine Build 7600 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I bought this laptop a few months ago, at Best Buy. Worked perfectly up until today morning. I turned it on and a message popped up saying that my version might be counterfeit and all that. I have the Product Key that's on the bottom of the laptop. What can I do?

windows has detected an activation exploit.

you have a Dell OEM SLP key on an Gateway computer, enabled by an activation hack, as evidenced by a Dell slic table.

you will have to purchase and install genuine windows or revert to the windows your computer came with.

    Office Status: 103 Blocked VLK
Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 - 103 Blocked VLK

your Office is also not genuine. (blocked volume license key)

  • A few weeks ago, the hard drive was changed (because of booting problems) at a local computer shop, could this have anything to do with it??

likely has everything to do with it. Looks like the shop put a bogus install of ultimate on it

what edition of windows is on your COA?

  • But how come? I bought the laptop already with windows and I bought and activated Microsoft too, on the same day. I have both product keys and evidence of purchasing them, with my own money.

  • Unfortunately, it appears "the local computer shop" installed a pirated version of Windows 7 Ultimate and a counterfeit copy of Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007.  You should demand that they install only genuine Microsoft software.  If they refuse, call the local law enforcement and press charges for fraud.

  • Oh my god, I hadn't noticed but the COA says Windows Home Premium, not Ultimate as it now says on the start up.
